What's in my Bag (2022 Edition)
If you prefer a video presentation on what I pack in my bag on a normal excursion, then check this out.
Sony a7R III
Primary Landscape Camera
The Sony a7r III is my go to for anything that requires a high resolution. At 42 megapixels, this camera can handle heavy cropping (often needed in wildlife photography).
Sony a9
Primary Wildlife Camera
With a blazing 20 frames per second silent shooting, the a9 is my choice for birds in flight and situations requiring higher ISO performance.
Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS
Primary Wildlife Lens
All I can say is this lens is amazing! It gives me the reach, sharpness and quality that I need, plus the native lens mount for speed. This is my new go to lens for wildlife photography.
Rokinon 24mm 1.8
Primary Wide Angle Lens
This is a newcomer to my arsenal and so I am in the process of evaluating it in 2022. I believe it will be a nice replacement for my aging Canon EF 24mm.
Canon EF 100mm 2.8 USM
Primary Macro Lens
Canon's 100mm macros are known for their sharpness. I use this 100 when I need to get in close for 1:1 macro shots. Butterflies, flowers and textures are all perfect for this lens.
Canon EF 50 mm f1.8
The Canon EF 50mm is an amazingly sharp lens for the money and I keep it in my bag constantly. It is a lightweight lens that can handle intimate scenics and even macro with extention tubes. I also use it for more distant waterfalls or waterfalls with poor foreground interest.
