I was shocked when looking at the goals I was able to fulfil in 2023. I had no idea that I had done so much! And, yes, I am going to brag about it. Let's be real, that doesn't happen every year. Almost 70% of my goals were met, and I'd take that percentage any year.
Great, so what about this year? How can I fashion my goals to push myself, but yet realize that they must be realistic. Anyway, let's get started...
Eagle Snatching a Fish
I know this goal has become rather trite in the nature photography space, but I have not done it yet. This goal represents a more difficult goal in the southeastern United States. In Alaska, this goal is much more attainable, but I am still making it a running goal until I can make it happen. As long as I can keep infection away, I will be working on this during the early months of 2024.
Save $500.00 Toward my Trip to Alaska
I have to start saving for this trip, and I can't think of a better time to do that than now. The average trip with a guide in Alaska can easily cost up to $5,000.00 and I have to start somewhere.
Trip to Florida for Nesting Birds
Most years, I travel to Florida for bird photography, but every few years, I travel to capture images of nesting wading birds. My goal for this trip is to look for unique lighting opportunities of my subjects. As always, I will be looking for unique portraits and flight shots. I would also love to capture a green heron in flight. I do not have that shot yet.
Produce 5 Sony Gear Reviews
To do a proper real world gear review takes a lot of effort and photography. So many reviews I see on YouTube were done in haste and do not take into account so many situations that pop up for the nature photographer. Mine take longer and are extremely accurate to what can be expected.
Produce 3 more Lightroom/Photoshop How Tos
It's strange that my Lightroom series videos are the most watched and liked, when I spend so much time getting an accurate review of items nature photographers need. I guess that is just typical of life. Remember folks, entertainment is not always equal to the truth.
